FNO 2011

What better way to start off a new season and a new wardrobe than with the internationally celebrated event, Fashion's Night Out. It's Fall already, the air is chilly and the leaves are falling, but most importantly it's time for a wardrobe change to warm knits and gorgeous boots. FNO fell on September 8th this year. Minnesota does not have the largest celebration, but it is definitely note-worthy.
The location I attended this year was at the Galleria in Edina, MN. Stores and Boutiques like Louis Vuitton and Cole Haan featured give-aways, exclusive discounts, and ample amounts of hors d'oeuvres. FNO also showcased other fashion related exhibits. Some of these include: Release of Louis Vuitton's Fall '11 line, a mini art gallery, of this season's inspiring art, and a masterpiece of a dress made from newspaper. Among all of these fabulous attractions, I also experienced the variety of musical offerings. This included everything from live pianists to a surprise flash singing mob.
Yay for winning! Normally I don't enter sweepstakes or put my name in drawings, but there were two I just could not resist. Cole Haan's "Free Shoes For a Year" and FNO Sponsored "FNO-Tee". Unfortunately I did not win the plethora of shoes, but I did win this exclusive FNO-China Tee, that I most definitely will be sporting :)
But aside from all of the glamorous festivities, drag queens, free food, and shopping, the community portion was dedicated to a fundraiser party that kicked off the night benefiting Operation Smile. This great organization help to heal and fix children with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. To find out more or to donate click here.
Hope you all had an equally or more fabulous FNO '11!
Until next time, walk in someone else's Choos...

Katy & Kitty in the Cities

17 Costume changes. That's how many I counted at last night's Katy Perry Concert at the Xcel Energy Center. My sister is an uber fan of Katy, her fictional cat Kitty and her music. Although I enjoy her pop stylings as well, I am more a fan of her candy land inspired wardrobe.
My body is nowhere close to the perfection that is Katy Perry, but I'd say we are similar in build; petite frame, well-endowed chest region and average-to-minimal rear end. So it was fun to see how katy played up her shape in all of costumes.
Here are just a few from last night:

Check out the Katy inspired outfits my sister and I wore for the show!
I hope you didn't get internet induced diabetes from looking at all of that! Hopefully I can share more costume footage with you all in the future! If you are ever feel the need to get girly, take a cue from Katy, throw on a british accent on (thank you Mr.Brand) chew some bubble gum and crank up"Peacock".
Thanks for reading :)

TC Style Off 2011

Apologies for the neglecting...
But what better way to return than with fun and exciting updates!

Last night, at Second Debut, the TC Style Off Competition was hot and happenin'. Yours truly competed for the title of The Twin Cities Best Stylist.
Unfortunately yours truly, did not win. However I did walk away with 3rd place for the People's Choice.. although this may be due to the votes of my very generous friends...and maybe a certain someone trying to woo me by buying a ridiculous amount of ballots ;)
But hey, I'm not complaining.

But it's all good, cause the event was very fun, a great experience and an awesome way to meet other stylists in the cities.

The event went as follows:
  • Style off competition & Runway Show
  • Lives performances by Auburn
  • DJ styles of DJ Phat from local radio station 96.3 Now
  • Yummy food (that I did not get to try)

my beautiful model Lucia
Local Artist Auburn
The Judges
Congrats to the winners and all the stylists, and a big thank you to all my friends and family that came out to support me!

Remember style is about mixing what's flattering & what you like!

Until next time, walk in someone else's Choos...

Macy's Glamorama 2011

It's that time of year!
Macy's Glamorama took place in Minneapolis, at the Orpheum Theater, on August 5th.
Every year I want to go so bad, but something always comes up. Tickets are sold out, work schedule ect.
But this year, a dear friend of mine took the liberty of buying the tickets for me, which forced me to make time. And I most definitely do not regret it.

The night was full of fashion, glamour, generous spirits & fabulous free swag. Unfortunately, this year we did not get to attend the after party...poor college student budget...so the best swag all night were the Luna bars and creepy downtown hobos staring. But it was all for a good cause!

Ticket proceeds went to the Children's Cancer Research Fund. The main event included a grand fashion show featuring the following designers:
  • Sonia Rykiel Collection
  • Jean Paul Gaultier Collection
  • Armani Jeans
  • Bar III
  • Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse
  • Tracy Reese
  • Marc Jacobs Collection
  • Papi
(one of my favorites of the night)

and the nights entertainment also included Bruno Mars & Far East Movement!

My friend and I had a blast at the event and almost more fun getting ready for it! I wore a tulle mini dress by BCBG Max Azria and my friend debut one of my own designs. Did I see another girl wearing the same dress as me...? Yes. Was she under accessorized...? Yes. Normally I would be a little boiled if I knew that there was a chance I may end up "who wore it best?", but tonight it was about the kids. Fashion for a cause.

Can't wait for next year's Glamorama, hopefully by then we can afford better seats and after party access... ya hear that my unnamed employer..? ;)

You can help the cause too! Visit the donation sight for the Children's Cancer Research Fund here, and donate today!
